TechFlow Presents: McLaren SENNA to be unveiled by OKX and Senna Global
May 21, 2024 – The McLaren Formula 1 Team has announced it will debut a special one-off livery inspired by legendary driver Ayrton Senna at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix.
The "McLaren SENNA presented by OKX" initiative, launched in collaboration between McLaren Racing, official partner OKX, and Senna Global, celebrates the racing legacy of Ayrton Senna. Marking the 30th anniversary of Senna's passing, this livery serves as both a tribute to his life and a recognition of his enduring impact on McLaren and Formula 1. Inspired by Senna’s iconic helmet design, the vibrant yellow, green, and blue color scheme will feature prominently on the MCL38 throughout the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
Senna raced for the McLaren F1 Team from 1988 to 1993, becoming the team's most successful driver. He claimed 41 Grand Prix victories overall, with 35 achieved during his time at McLaren, along with three Drivers' Championships and four Constructors' Championships. Senna shared a deep connection with Monaco, earning the nickname “King of Monaco” after securing six wins there, including five consecutive victories from 1989 to 1993. Therefore, the symbolic Circuit de Monaco is the ideal venue for McLaren to honor his legacy.
Today, McLaren Automotive also unveiled a limited-edition McLaren Senna road car honoring Senna’s legendary career. Named the “Senna Sempre,” this bespoke model incorporates design elements that echo the F1 livery. Designed and hand-painted by McLaren Special Operations, its color scheme draws directly from Senna’s helmet—featuring yellow, green, and blue—and includes a subtle dot-matrix portrait of Senna alongside other commemorative details.
During the race weekend, the McLaren team will wear Senna-inspired apparel, with drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri appearing in custom-designed race suits. Fans can participate through a range of exclusive merchandise reflecting Senna-era colors and team liveries. The “Senna X Monaco” collection will be available via the McLaren Store.
Since becoming a principal partner of the McLaren F1 Team, leading virtual asset exchange and Web3 technology company OKX has consistently supported global fan engagement, delivering innovative experiences that deepen fan involvement. OKX will continue collaborating with McLaren F1 to launch initiatives such as the limited-edition “Stealth Mode” livery introduced at the Singapore Grand Prix and now this special tribute to Senna.
The 2024 Monaco Grand Prix will take place from May 24 to 26 on the streets of Monte Carlo.
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing: “We are deeply honored to commemorate Ayrton Senna’s extraordinary life and racing legacy through this special livery. Senna remains one of the greatest icons in Formula 1 history and our most accomplished driver. His achievements, contributions to our team, and lasting legend continue to inspire us today. It is especially meaningful that we race with his signature green, yellow, and blue on the very track where he delivered some of his most iconic performances.”
“We’re proud to collaborate with Senna Global, our official partner OKX, and colleagues at McLaren Automotive on the ‘McLaren SENNA presented by OKX’ campaign. On the 30th anniversary of his passing, we chose Monaco—one of Senna’s favorite and most triumphant circuits—to celebrate his life and legacy. We look forward to racing this weekend with a vibrant and beautiful livery that honors a true legend.”
Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer at OKX: “Participating in the design of the Senna livery for the Monaco Grand Prix is more than just a tribute—it’s a celebration of Senna’s enduring legacy and profound influence on motorsport and McLaren. Senna inspired a generation, and OKX aims to help a new generation discover his story. Through this initiative, we hope to honor a true icon while engaging fans in a dynamic and living tribute that extends Senna’s impact beyond Formula 1.”
Bianca from SennaGlobal: “We are honored to partner with McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive to unveil these liveries in memory of Ayrton Senna. Displaying his iconic colors on both race and road cars is a powerful way to celebrate his life and legacy. McLaren held great significance for Ayrton, where together they achieved many unforgettable milestones still cherished today. And Monaco brought him so much joy and success—seeing a Senna-liveried car race here carries deep emotional meaning.”
