Beyond Hype: Can AVAV Lead the Way in Real-World Applications?
AVAV pioneered the practical application of inscription tokens and further fueled the inscription market's breakthrough into broader circles.
As the year draws to a close, the crypto industry continues to see hot developments, and undoubtedly, inscriptions have become the hottest sector over the past one to two months—maintaining a central spotlight throughout this year. Inscription tokens on Bitcoin such as ORDI, SATS, and RATS have demonstrated miraculous wealth effects, with many non-crypto-native users earning significant profits through trading Ordinals.
With such success already evident, other public blockchains are eager to capture the massive value spilling over from Bitcoin’s ecosystem—just as various Layer 1 blockchains absorbed Ethereum's overflow during 2020–2021. As a result, major chains have jumped into the inscription trend, turning "Have you minted inscriptions today?" into the hottest greeting in the industry.
Recently, many professionals have summarized key events that triggered market rallies in recent years:
The 2018 bull run was ignited by the ICO boom;
The 2020 bull market was driven by DeFi yield farming;
GameFi exploded in 2022;
Could 2024 be the breakout year for inscriptions?
If so, perhaps late 2023 is the optimal time to position oneself!

The Public Chain Inscription Wave
Two months ago, I observed that after BRC20 gained popularity, Bitcoin surged in price, causing gas costs for inscription minting to rise sharply and transaction activity to cool down. However, in the past month, other public chains have begun adopting the inscription token model pioneered on Bitcoin, launching their own innovative variations.
Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, Avalanche, zkSync, Arbitrum, Klaytn, Cosmos, BNB Chain, Litecoin, Dogechain, Celestia, Filecoin, Arweave—and others—regardless of whether they were established L1s from the last bull cycle or emerging L1/L2 chains—are all now launching various inscription tokens.
Communities that had been dormant for over a year suddenly became active, making the crypto space extremely vibrant.
If a public chain does not offer inscription tokens for users to mint, its operations may be questioned. In fact, many crypto communities now view "minting inscriptions" as a stress test for a blockchain. The surge of users minting inscription tokens has caused congestion across multiple chains. According to incomplete statistics, at least six blockchain networks collapsed under pressure in the past week, including Arbitrum, Celestia, IOST, Cronos, and TON, which experienced partial or complete outages.
Controversial Inscription Tokens
Of course, inscription tokens have sparked considerable controversy. Some crypto users enthusiastically embrace them, viewing inscriptions as a new, anti-VC, fair method of asset issuance. However, a larger portion of the community—including OGs—remain skeptical. For example, Bitcoin Core developer and Bitcoin OG Luke has dismissed the value of Bitcoin-based inscriptions. Delphi Digital analyst Michael Rinko also stated he sees no logic behind inscriptions, treating them merely as a passing fad with zero rationality.
From a technical standpoint, inscription tokens may not possess inherent "value," and their primary criticism has long been their lack of utility. However, we know that in the crypto world, "collective consensus" holds the greatest influence—and belief in inscription tokens has become a new manifestation of such collective consensus.
Recently, the crypto community has noticed inscription tokens beginning to find real-world applications. A standout case in point is the inscription token AVAV.

AVAV: The First Inscription Token with Real-World Application
According to official information, AVAV is an inscription token on the Avalanche chain and currently one of the most popular projects within the Avalanche inscription community. With a total supply of 21 million tokens, each containing 69,696,969 coins, AVAV has completed all minting, with over 50,000 holding addresses.
Across both Chinese and international inscription communities, AVAV stands out as highly active. Data shows that the AVAV Chinese community reached nearly 14,000 members within less than a month of formation, attracting numerous well-known KOLs who began promoting AVAV and expressing optimism about its future performance.

Some have even summarized reasons for bullish sentiment toward AVAV:
1. The Avalanche token AVAX has recently performed strongly, rising from $5 to $40, positioning it as a powerful public chain;
2. Minting AVAV on the Avalanche chain offers a smooth user experience, with network performance successfully passing the inscription stress test;
3. AVAV has over 50,000 token-holding addresses, indicating a large and engaged community;
4. Strong meme coin characteristics—the name AVAV is catchy and easily embeds itself in users’ minds, aiding virality.

Unexpectedly, AVAV actually delivered on point four, becoming the first inscription token to achieve real-world adoption.
Recently, Umate, a global content creator platform, announced support for AVAV payments. Umate is a subscription-based social platform that provides high creative freedom and strong income potential for creators worldwide, while offering fans a diverse interest-based community.

Publicly available information indicates that the renowned content creator HKDoll has joined Umate.

While this marks a successful real-world application, the heavily meme-driven nature of the use case is somewhat ironic, and the application itself is far from mainstream. Looking beyond surface-level developments, small-scale implementation cases like this are common in the crypto market, yet truly scalable applications remain rare—suggesting this may still be largely speculative hype fueled by the inscription trend.
Nevertheless, AVAV has undeniably pioneered real-world usage for inscription tokens, assigning them tangible value and further fueling the inscription market’s potential to break into broader adoption.
Conclusion
By now, the question of whether "inscription tokens have no value and are purely speculative" likely has an answer in our minds.
While inscription tokens on other public chains remain in the speculation phase, AVAV on the Avalanche chain has quietly achieved real-world integration, securing a suitable application scenario and emerging as the frontrunner among inscription tokens.
As the inscription wave continues to grow and spread, the next focal point may well be which project will win the race in practical application deployment for inscription tokens.
