Curse Inscriptions May Be Discontinued—What Are the Key Assets to Watch?
If curse inscriptions become out of print, their scarcity will inevitably increase again, leading inscription enthusiasts to fall into FOMO, scrambling to find investment and speculation opportunities.

Recently, the long-forgotten cursed inscriptions have reemerged into public view.
On November 14, the founder of the Ordinals protocol announced on Twitter that the official Ordinals team is considering implementing a "Jubilee" at Bitcoin mainnet block height 820512—approximately 26 days from now.
This aligns perfectly with a proposal posted by Casey, the founder of Ordinals, on GitHub in October—The Jubilee #2495—which stated that cursed inscriptions would be fixed about one month later. This means no new cursed inscriptions will ever be created in the BTC ecosystem again, simultaneously creating speculative momentum around existing cursed inscriptions.
What Are Cursed Inscriptions?
Cursed Inscriptions were caused by a bug in the earlier version of the Ordinals protocol, resulting in certain inscriptions not being recognized by indexers. As a result, the Ordinals team decided to label these inscriptions as negative values, counting backward from zero—hence also known as negative-numbered inscriptions.
In simple terms, cursed inscriptions are somewhat like misprinted fiat banknotes—genuinely issued due to production errors and circulating in the real world. Because of their rarity, they often get hyped to prices far exceeding their intrinsic value—a similar logic applies here.
Once cursed inscriptions become permanently discontinued, their scarcity will inevitably increase further, triggering FOMO among inscription enthusiasts who are actively seeking investment and speculation opportunities.
Currently, What Are the Mainstream Cursed Inscriptions?
For NFTs, the major ones include:
cursed bitcoin punk
Total Supply: 10,000

cursed pokemon
Total Supply: 200

Cursed Satorian Dimension
Total Supply: 379
Website: https://cursedbitcoinpunks.com/

Currently, Magic Eden is the primary marketplace for trading cursed inscription NFTs, even featuring a dedicated section for individual (retail) cursed inscription NFTs:

Regarding token investment targets, 0xSea, curator of SeaTalk, identifies two main candidates:
- Crsd: The first token with a total supply of 21 million, minted completely on May 25. However, due to the Ordinals development team's failure to finalize indexing support, it has remained untradable.
- Tap: Also with a total supply of 21 million, mined in August. It currently holds a certain market price, circulation volume, and community consensus. It is also the first token built on the Tap Protocol (an improved BRC-20 protocol).
Tap Protocol was launched on August 7 by the Trac team as an enhanced and improved protocol based on Ordinals, fully compatible with BRC-20 in functionality.
Notably, both Tap and -Tap are native tokens under the Tap Protocol. Tap was officially minted in full and locked up with no circulation; -Tap, however, was opened to the community for minting, with a total supply of 21,000,000 (i.e., 21,000 units). The cursed version (-Tap) was deployed 30 minutes earlier than the positive-numbered Tap, making it the true first native token. When the community discusses "Tap" today, they are actually referring to -Tap.
Unisat currently does not support cursed inscriptions nor allow trading of tokens on the Tap Protocol, so do not purchase $Tap on Unisat.
