OKX Ventures Partner Jeff Ren: Amplifying builders' voices in Asia while bringing Gitcoin's ethos to the Asian market
Jeff Ren stated that the growth and development of cryptocurrency and Web3 originate from the community, making community and ecosystem building highly important and a key focus for OKX Ventures.

On September 11, Jeff Ren, Partner at OKX Ventures, was invited to speak at the Schelling Point conference in Singapore, where he held a dialogue with Azeem Khan from Gitcoin, discussing topics including community and ecosystem development, as well as collaboration with Gitcoin.
The Schelling Point conference was co-hosted by Gitcoin, OKX Ventures, BlockBooster, and CollegeDAO, sponsored by Alchemy Pay, Allinfra, Aki Network, Ethereum Climate Platform, EthSign, OctantApp, Smart Token Labs, and VitaDAO, and specially supported by crypto media outlet Bankless Publishing. Conference themes included open-source technology, blockchain applications in environmental protection, fair funding mechanisms, and how Web3 technology can revolutionize the education sector.
Notably, although Schelling Point has been held during various Ethereum events for years, this marks its first time taking place in Asia.
Jeff Ren emphasized that the growth and development of cryptocurrency and Web3 stem from communities, making community and ecosystem building critically important—and a core focus for OKX Ventures. Both OKX and OKX Ventures are deeply rooted in developer communities, with community and ecosystem development deeply embedded in their company's philosophy, methodology, and mission.
OKX Ventures is committed to supporting the broader Web3 community, crypto builders, and high-quality public goods projects through funding, collaborating with partners to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem. While aiming to amplify the voices of Asian builders, OKX Ventures also seeks to bring more of the Ethereum narrative and Gitcoin ethos into the Asian market, enabling people across different languages, cultures, and backgrounds to participate.
According to Jeff Ren, OKX Ventures is positioning itself as a proactive global industry participant by investing, building innovative technologies, and driving industry transformation. OKX Ventures remains loyal to the Ethereum community and is steadfastly identifying and funding high-quality projects that aim to solve issues around user-friendliness, security, and decentralization. As demonstrated by its efforts in advancing Layer2 technologies—such as investments in pioneering projects like Scroll, Starkware, zkSync, and Taiko—it turns vision into tangible action.
Additionally, Jeff Ren expressed appreciation to Azeem Khan for representing Gitcoin and traveling from the United States to attend the event. Previously, OKX Ventures and Gitcoin have collaborated on numerous initiatives: in April, they jointly hosted hackathons in San Jose and Hong Kong alongside Blockbooster; in May, OKX Ventures organized an AMA session encouraging participation in Gitcoin’s fundraising round; and in August, OKX Ventures joined Gitcoin’s Stewardship Council. The two organizations are growing increasingly close, working together to contribute positively to the industry.
