TechFlow, September 25 — According to Decrypt, Plasma has distributed XPL tokens worth $8,390 for free to all users who participated in its ICO pre-deposit program, even if they ultimately did not purchase tokens through the ICO. Plasma stated that within three hours of launching its mainnet beta, half of the ICO participants had already claimed their tokens.
Plasma is a layer-1 blockchain optimized for stablecoins, using the XPL token to power its staking-based consensus mechanism. The project has received financial backing from figures including Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel.
