TechFlow, September 18 — Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin responded on social media to the controversy surrounding the staking withdrawal mechanism. He stated that staking is more like a soldier deciding to leave the army—staking involves taking on the solemn duty of safeguarding the blockchain, and the friction upon exit is part of the protocol.
Vitalik explained that if any proportion of soldiers in an army could leave at any time, the army would not be able to stay united. He emphasized that this does not mean the current staking queue design is optimal, but simply lowering the relevant parameters would make the blockchain less reliable for nodes that do not come online frequently.
