TechFlow news, September 16 — According to Beincrypto, Israel's Ministry of Defense has ordered the seizure of 187 cryptocurrency wallets, accusing them of being used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The National Bureau for Counter-Terrorism Financing and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the seizure under Israel’s 2016 Counter-Terrorism Law.
Officials stated these wallets have processed USDT transactions worth $1.5 billion and currently hold around $1.5 million. Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic has integrated the seized addresses into its monitoring system but noted that not all wallets are directly controlled by the IRGC, with some possibly belonging to cryptocurrency infrastructure serving multiple clients.
