TechFlow news, September 12 — According to The Block, Coinbase has filed a request with federal court to conduct an "expedited appropriate investigation" into deleted text messages of SEC Chair Gary Gensler. A report from the Office of the Inspector General revealed that the SEC deleted nearly a year's worth of Gensler’s text messages (from October 2022 to September 2023), a period coinciding with the FTX collapse and increased SEC enforcement actions against cryptocurrency exchanges, including Coinbase. Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal called this a "serious breach of public trust" and urged the court to impose sanctions.
