TechFlow, September 9 — According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced on Monday that it will take steps to eliminate so-called "debanking," responding to calls from industry groups and Republicans to end what they view as an unfair practice. OCC Acting Comptroller Jonathan Gould said, "The OCC is taking action to stop the weaponization of the financial system," adding that the agency will work to root out banks' illegal discrimination against customers based on political or religious beliefs.
