TechFlow news, September 6 — According to Cointelegraph, Itaú Asset Management, Brazil's largest private asset manager, has established a dedicated cryptocurrency division and appointed former Hashdex executive João Marco Braga da Cunha to lead it. The new division builds on Itaú Asset’s existing crypto offerings, including the bank’s Bitcoin ETF and retirement funds providing digital asset investments. Itaú Asset manages over 1 trillion reais ($185 billion) in assets for clients.
Cunha said: "The crypto asset space has unique characteristics in generating alpha returns. It's a relatively new market, and its volatility creates significant opportunities." Cunha previously served as Head of Portfolio Management at Hashdex, one of the pioneers behind Brazil’s first crypto ETFs.
