TechFlow, August 20 — According to official news, Upstage, an AI startup headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, has raised $45 million from investors including Amazon (AMZN.O) and AMD (AMD.O) to accelerate the development of next-generation models and expand its operations in the U.S. and Asia-Pacific region. This brings Upstage's total funding to $157 million. Under the agreement, Upstage will use Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its cloud service provider for building and deploying foundational models, and will also leverage AWS’s machine learning infrastructure and custom-designed AI chips. Upstage was co-founded in 2020 by Sung Kim, who previously led the AI development team at Naver, South Korea’s largest internet company.
