TechFlow, August 6 — According to foreign media analysis, if U.S. President Trump selects Kevin Hassett or David Malpass to succeed Kugler as a Federal Reserve governor, the dollar could weaken. This is because Hassett and Malpass are seen as more dovish than Kevin Warsh, another leading candidate for the position. Trump will announce before the end of this week who will replace Kugler—a decision that may also determine the next Fed chair succeeding Powell. Trump has reportedly narrowed his choices down to four individuals: Hassett, Malpass, Warsh, and current Fed governor Waller. Whoever Trump ultimately picks to succeed Kugler will likely advocate for a Fed rate cut exceeding 25 basis points in September. (Jinshi)
