TechFlow news, July 23 — According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Lotte Card announced on July 23 that it has filed applications for trademark rights related to 36 won-based stablecoin projects, including 12 brand names and 24 ticker symbols. These trademarks are categorized into two types: "general-purpose" and "specific-use." The general-purpose category includes names such as "WONBIT" and "KTOKEN," while specific-use examples include "LOCA-U" and "LOCA-A." Lotte Card stated that widespread adoption of stablecoins depends on market trust and everyday payment applications, with future potential for extensive use in high-value asset transactions such as used cars, luxury goods, and real estate. The company plans to leverage its extensive distribution network and prepaid services targeting foreign tourists to become an innovative player in the won-denominated stablecoin market.
