TechFlow news, on July 15, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on social media stating that the best way to build Layer 2 (L2) networks is to rely more on security, censorship resistance, proofs, and data availability provided by Layer 1 (L1), while simplifying their own logic to act solely as sequencers and provers (or just provers if proof-based) for core execution.
Vitalik pointed out that this combination of minimal trust and efficiency was a goal pursued but not achieved by enterprise blockchain teams in the 2010s. Now, through Ethereum's Layer 2 networks, this goal has become achievable. He added that there have already been successful cases showing that when issues arise with Layer 2 networks, Layer 1 functionalities can protect user rights.
