TechFlow news, July 8 — tBTC is now live on Sui, further boosting the growth of BTCFi within the Sui ecosystem. The team behind tBTC is Threshold Network, a protocol designed to empower Bitcoin in DeFi while preserving its minimal-trust security model.
Through this integration, users can now mint tBTC directly on the Sui network and efficiently deploy their Bitcoin capital via DeFi protocols offering instant settlement and ultra-low fees. tBTC will be fully available across Sui for use in trading, lending, staking, and yield strategies. This integration will initially activate Bitcoin liquidity on four native Sui protocols: Bluefin, Bucket, AlphaLend, and AlphaFi.
Notably, Sui becomes the first non-EVM public blockchain to support direct tBTC minting within Threshold applications, enhancing accessibility and reinforcing its position as a leading platform for Bitcoin liquidity. The Sui BTCFi ecosystem continues to expand—since February, nearly 600 BTC have been bridged into Sui, with Bitcoin-backed assets accounting for over 10% of Sui’s total value locked (TVL).
