TechFlow news, July 8 — According to Cointelegraph, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has dismissed the appeal filed by cryptocurrency advocacy group Coin Center against the U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for its 2022 sanctions on the mixing service Tornado Cash, effectively ending Coin Center’s legal challenge against OFAC.
Coin Center Executive Director Peter Van Valkenburgh said this marks the formal end of their courtroom battle over the statutory authority for the Tornado Cash sanctions, stating that "the government was unwilling to continue defending its dangerously overbroad interpretation of sanctions law."
