TechFlow news, on July 5, according to CCTV News, U.S. President Trump said on July 4 local time that the U.S. government would begin sending letters to trade partners that day, setting new unilateral tariff rates. Trump stated the new tariffs would "very likely" take effect from August 1.
Trump said that starting from the 4th, the U.S. would send letters to multiple countries, with an expected "10 or 12" sent that day and more to follow in the coming days. Trump added he expected all these letters to be delivered by the 9th. Previously, Trump had set July 9 as the final deadline for tariff negotiations.
Regarding the new tariffs to be set, Trump said, "Tariff rates could range from 60%, 70% down to 10%, 20%." He added, "We have finalized the text, which will essentially state how much tariffs these countries will pay."
