TechFlow, July 4 — According to Cointelegraph, Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm is set to appear in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on July 14, facing charges including money laundering, operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, and violating U.S. sanctions. The U.S. Department of the Treasury previously sanctioned Tornado Cash, accusing the mixing service of aiding the North Korean hacking group Lazarus Group in laundering funds.
In a recent video interview, Storm said he has not yet decided whether to testify in his own defense and revealed that the case has caused him significant psychological distress. Storm has received broad support from the cryptocurrency community, with over $750,000 raised for his legal defense fund, including contributions from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and the Ethereum Foundation.
