TechFlow news, on July 2, Tether announced on July 1, 2025, that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Zanzibar e-Government Agency (eGAZ) to advance digital asset education and blockchain technology adoption.
Under the agreement, Tether will assess the integration of its stablecoin USD₮ and gold-backed digital token XAU₮ into Zanmalipo, Zanzibar's local government payment gateway, to enhance accessibility within the regional financial ecosystem.
The two parties plan to organize educational workshops on topics such as blockchain, Bitcoin, and stablecoins, and collaborate with local academic institutions to incorporate blockchain technology into educational frameworks.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that this partnership marks Zanzibar's transition from informal exploration to structured growth in its digital asset ecosystem, laying the foundation for a compliant, scalable, and inclusive digital economy.
Said Seif Said, Director General of the Zanzibar e-Government Agency, emphasized that this collaboration will enable Zanzibar to harness the opportunities brought by digital asset adoption, promoting public engagement and legal reforms.
