TechFlow news, on June 27, according to the latest disclosure by cryptocurrency security analyst ZachXBT, multiple NFT projects associated with Pepe founder Matt Furie and ChainSaw were hacked over the past week, resulting in losses of approximately $1 million. Analysis suggests the attacker may be a North Korean IT worker who was accidentally hired.
The attacker first took over ownership of the Replicandy project on June 18 and withdrew mint proceeds, then gained control of projects including Peplicator, Hedz, and Zogz on June 23. The hacker caused the floor prices of these projects to drop to zero by minting NFTs and selling them at low prices, profiting over $310,000.
