TechFlow, June 27 — According to four sources familiar with the matter, the Trump administration is preparing a series of executive measures aimed at boosting artificial intelligence expansion in the United States. The sources said that actions under consideration include making it easier for power generation projects to connect to the grid and providing federal land for building data centers required to scale AI technologies. Data from Grid Strategies, an electricity industry consulting firm, shows that U.S. electricity demand is expected to grow at five times the rate forecast in 2022 between 2024 and 2029. A report by consulting firm Deloitte indicates that power demand from AI data centers could increase more than 30-fold by 2035. Sources revealed that the government is considering prioritizing mature power generation projects in interconnection queues. The executive order would also authorize the Department of Defense and the Department of the Interior to allocate land for project development. The government is also considering streamlining data center permitting by establishing a nationwide Clean Water Act permit, rather than requiring companies to apply for permits state by state. In addition, the White House is considering designating July 23 as "AI Action Day." (Jinshi)
