TechFlow news, June 25 — According to Cointelegraph, New York City Mayor Eric Adams criticized former Governor Andrew Cuomo's cryptocurrency policies at the Permissionless event in Brooklyn, calling them "wrong" and "misleading," and stated that during Cuomo's tenure, he "dismantled and destroyed the industry."
Adams plans to establish a city council to advocate for cryptocurrency policy and "create pathways" for using cryptocurrency to pay for municipal services, while introducing digital asset education in schools. He also said he is exploring ways to "circumvent" the city comptroller's opposition to his proposed Bitcoin-backed municipal bond program.
Adams previously announced he would accept his first three salaries in Bitcoin and said he still holds those funds. He will run as an independent candidate in the November mayoral election.
