TechFlow, June 24 — According to Decrypt, Israeli security agencies have arrested a 27-year-old Tel Aviv resident accused of photographing militarily sensitive locations for Iran and receiving cryptocurrency as payment.
According to a joint statement from the Israel Security Agency and Tel Aviv Police, suspect Or Beilin completed multiple tasks, including photographing sensitive sites and spray-painting politically motivated graffiti. The investigation revealed that Iranian agents contacted targets via social media platforms.
Two other Israeli citizens were also arrested over similar espionage activities, including 28-year-old Dmitri Cohen from Haifa. Cohen is accused of gathering intelligence on the fiancée of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son. Each task reportedly earned the suspects $500 worth of cryptocurrency, accumulating several thousand dollars in total.
