TechFlow, June 20 — According to The Block, French authorities have allowed Telegram's founder and CEO Pavel Durov to leave France for the second time since his detention in August 2024. As reported by Le Monde, Durov can travel to Dubai, where Telegram's headquarters is located, starting July 10, but only for a period of 14 days.
Besides business reasons, Durov has urgent personal matters: "My newborn son is spending the first months of his life, and because I was unable to be in Dubai for his birth, he still doesn't have a passport. I also have a teenage son attending boarding school in Dubai who recently broke his arm and currently lacks parental support."
The French National Anti-Fraud Office arrested Durov on August 24, 2024, accusing him of supporting illegal activities via the Telegram platform, including providing encryption tools, distributing child sexual abuse material, and money laundering.
