TechFlow, June 1 — On-chain investigator ZachXBT posted on social media stating, "SIM-swapping/social engineering fraud requires harsher penalties. Laws in Canada and the EU are extremely lenient, allowing perpetrators to get away with a lot. Many of them are minors, which enables them to escape even greater consequences, and their details are protected (this is why I disclose their full names regardless of age)."
In 2020, 17-year-old Canadian Cameron Redman helped carry out SIM-swap attacks that netted $37 million. His full name or photo had never been mentioned online until I published it after his involvement in phishing/X ATO."
