TechFlow news, May 30 — According to CoinDesk, Panama City Mayor Mayer Mizrachi said at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that they are exploring bitcoin payment solutions. Mizrachi revealed that they are considering establishing a strategic bitcoin reserve for Panama City and studying the possibility of accepting bitcoin payments for Panama Canal tolls, with ships paying in bitcoin potentially receiving priority passage.
Notably, under Mizrachi's leadership, Panama City has passed legislation allowing residents to pay taxes, parking fines, licenses, and other fees using bitcoin, ether, and certain stablecoins. Mizrachi stated that his inspiration comes from El Salvador's bitcoin policy.
