TechFlow news, May 27 — According to Fortune, U.S. Interior Secretary Bergum recently authorized Taylor Hassen, a member of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and a Texas oil executive, to restructure the department. However, Hassen has not divested his energy investments or submitted an ethics commitment form. Financial disclosures show that Hassen previously earned nearly $4 million annually at an oil services company and holds stakes in multiple energy and cryptocurrency firms. Critics argue that Hassen circumvented Senate confirmation by adjusting his job title, and that the strategic plan he is advancing at the Interior Department includes accelerating fossil fuel permitting and reducing regulations. Several Democratic lawmakers have called for halting this large-scale restructuring, which they say violates the Vacancies Reform Act.
