TechFlow, May 27 — According to Cointelegraph, cryptocurrency industry groups are urging the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to issue formal guidance on crypto staking operations. Allison Muehr, CCI's policy lead for staking at the Crypto Innovation Coalition (CCI), said at Solana Accelerate in New York that the SEC has had more constructive engagement with the industry in the past four months than in the previous four years, yet still hasn't released official staking guidance.
The U.S. SEC has issued regulatory guidance on meme coins and stablecoins in February and April this year, respectively, but has not yet approved staking-enabled crypto ETFs or released formal guidance on the compliance of staking services. Muehr expressed optimism that the SEC will eventually approve staking ETFs for cryptocurrencies including Solana.
