TechFlow, May 26 — According to Scam Sniffer, the notorious phishing attack group Inferno Drainer exploited the EIP-7702 proposal feature introduced in Ethereum's latest Pectra upgrade to successfully steal approximately $150,000 worth of crypto assets.
Cosine, founder of blockchain security firm SlowMist, stated that the attackers carried out the assault through MetaMask wallets that had already been authorized, leveraging bulk authorization to silently transfer funds. Security experts advise users to regularly review their token authorization status and verify whether wallet addresses have been authorized to phishing accounts via EIP-7702.
