TechFlow news, May 25 — According to Reuters cited by Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao website on May 25, U.S. chip giant Nvidia is reportedly preparing to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) chip based on the Blackwell architecture for the Chinese market. The chip’s price is expected to be significantly lower than its previous H20 model, with mass production anticipated to begin as early as June. The report states that this AI processor, built on the latest Blackwell architecture, is expected to be priced between $6,500 and $8,000, notably lower than the H20. Lower pricing typically indicates relatively weaker chip specifications and a more simplified manufacturing process. This would mark Nvidia’s third time introducing a downgraded chip for China that complies with U.S. regulatory restrictions. Recently, the U.S. government banned Nvidia from selling its Hopper-architecture-based H20 chips to China. Sources said Nvidia had considered developing another downgraded version of the H20 for China, but Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang previously admitted that the Hopper architecture used in the H20 could no longer be modified under current U.S. export restrictions.
