TechFlow, May 25 — According to Cointelegraph, Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov was originally scheduled to attend the Oslo Freedom Forum in Oslo, Norway, but a French court has rejected his request to leave the country. The event organizer, Human Rights Foundation (HRF), stated that Durov will deliver his keynote speech via live stream.
Durov previously publicly accused Nicolas Lerner, head of France's intelligence agency, of demanding that he block conservative political content ahead of Romania's presidential election. Durov refused to comply, calling the request an act of "undermining democracy in the name of democracy."
He emphasized that Telegram will not censor political speech in any market, and said the platform would exit any market where it faces forced censorship. He stated: "We did not block protesters in Russia, Belarus, or Iran, and we will not do so in Europe either."
