TechFlow news, May 21 — According to Russian media TASS, the Russian Ministry of Justice has drafted a bill to include digital currencies within the scope of property subject to seizure and confiscation. Vadim Fedorov, Deputy Minister of Justice of Russia, stated at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum that the bill will establish special requirements to ensure the security of these digital assets.
Under the bill, investigators may seize physical carriers containing access codes or request courts to prohibit relevant transaction operations. The bill is currently being prepared for first reading in the State Duma. Fedorov noted that the appeal of digital currencies to criminals lies primarily in their anonymity and lack of centralized control, making them impossible to physically store like cash or valuables.
