TechFlow news, May 14 — According to Cailian Press, Amy Lo, co-head of UBS Asia Wealth Management, said that UBS's high-net-worth clients are increasingly shifting away from U.S. dollar assets toward gold, cryptocurrencies, and Chinese assets. "Gold is now very popular," Lo said in an interview with Yvonne Man at Bloomberg's New Voices event in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
She noted that rising trade tensions between China and the U.S. have prompted investors to diversify their previously "quite U.S.-centric" asset allocations. In addition to seeking exposure to other currencies, investors are allocating more capital to cryptocurrencies, commodities, and alternative assets. "Volatility will certainly persist," Lo added.
