TechFlow news, May 10 — According to Decrypt, Nintendo has denied using AI-generated images in its upcoming game "Mario Kart World." Previously, some players noticed apparent flaws during a game livestream that resembled artifacts commonly found in AI-generated images, sparking speculation.
A Nintendo spokesperson confirmed to Eurogamer: "AI-generated imagery was not used in the development of Mario Kart World." This statement aligns with last year's remarks by Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, who stated at an investor Q&A session that despite generative AI drawing attention for its creative capabilities, the company would not use it in games due to intellectual property and other concerns.
"Mario Kart World" will launch as a flagship title for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, scheduled for release on June 5, 2025. The game is the latest installment in Nintendo's popular racing series and will feature over 30 interconnected tracks forming an open world.
