TechFlow, May 10 — According to Crypto Briefing, BlackRock has expanded its disclosure regarding potential risks of quantum computing in the amended prospectus for its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). The revised prospectus, filed on May 9, elaborates on how advances in quantum computing could undermine the cryptographic security of Bitcoin. The document states that advancements in quantum computing technology may compromise the viability of many cryptographic algorithms used globally, including those protecting digital assets like Bitcoin. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart noted that such disclosures are standard practice in U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings. Meanwhile, BlackRock also revised its iShares Ethereum Trust documents to include in-kind creation/redemption provisions.
