TechFlow news, May 10 — According to CNN Indonesia, Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) may require the World platform to delete records of retinal data from 500,000 Indonesian citizens. Komdigi is investigating potential security risks associated with storing retinal data, and if such risks are confirmed, the data will be permanently deleted.
The World platform had previously come under scrutiny for offering users 800,000 Indonesian rupiah (approximately USD 48.34) in exchange for retina scans. Following Komdigi's suspension of its operating license, the platform has halted all scanning activities in Indonesia. The World platform clarified that its cryptocurrency, Worldcoin, was not used as compensation but rather as an optional incentive.
