TechFlow news, on May 8, according to the U.S. Department of Justice website, a man from Springfield, Virginia, Mohammed Azharuddin Chhipa, was sentenced to 364 months (approximately 30 years) in prison for funding the terrorist organization ISIS through cryptocurrency.
According to court records and trial evidence, between October 2019 and October 2022, Chhipa raised funds via social media, converted the proceeds into cryptocurrency, and transferred them to Turkey, ultimately channeling over $185,000 in cryptocurrency to ISIS members in Syria to support prison escapes and terrorist activities.
