TechFlow news, on May 8, OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman announced that Fidji Simo, former CEO of Instacart, will join OpenAI as Chief Executive Officer of Applications, reporting directly to Altman.
Altman stated that this appointment will allow him to focus more on critical areas such as research, computing, and safety, especially in the context of approaching superintelligence. Fidji Simo has previously collaborated with OpenAI for a year, demonstrating a deep commitment to the company's mission.
Altman believes Simo is the ideal candidate to help the company achieve 10x or even 100x growth. This senior appointment marks a significant organizational restructuring at OpenAI.
