TechFlow news, May 6 — According to Jinshi Data, European Commission Vice President Šefčovič stated that during the 90-day tariff pause offered by Trump, the EU will prepare to respond to substantial U.S. tariffs on EU imports, with all options on the table. Šefčovič said U.S. tariffs now cover 70% of EU goods exports to the United States, and this could rise to 97% following further U.S. investigations into pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and other products. Šefčovič emphasized that negotiating a solution with the U.S. remains the EU's clearest and most desired outcome. He added that the EU will use the period until the tariff pause ends on July 8 to prepare additional rebalancing measures and ensure a level playing field should negotiations fail. "All options are on the table," Šefčovič said.
