TechFlow, May 5 — According to an official announcement from PayPal, the company will launch its in-store payment service at physical stores in Germany this summer. This marks PayPal's first rollout of in-store payment functionality in Germany, enabling users to make payments via the PayPal app (iOS and Android) at merchants that support Mastercard contactless payments.
The service features three main components: first, contactless payments via smartphone; second, the introduction of PayPal Ratenzahlung To Go, a new installment payment option offering plans of 3, 6, 12, and 24 months; and third, the ability for users to activate cashback offers within the PayPal app when making contactless payments at select merchants across Germany.
Joerg Kablitz, Managing Director for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at PayPal, stated that this represents PayPal’s largest product development investment in Germany to date, with the service rolling out nationwide in the coming weeks.
