TechFlow, May 5 — According to the Financial Times, AI coding tool Cursor has raised $900 million in a new funding round led by Thrive Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Accel. Following this round, Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, is now valued at $9 billion.
Earlier this year, Cursor secured $105 million in funding led by Thrive and a16z, at a $2.5 billion valuation. Other AI coding startups are also attracting investor interest; in February, Windsurf was reportedly in talks for a funding round at a $3 billion valuation. It was also reported that OpenAI attempted to acquire Windsurf last month at the same valuation.
