TechFlow, May 3 — According to Jinshi Data, the U.S. Treasury issued a statement on Friday local time stating that senior officials from the United States and Japan have agreed to immediately begin working-level consultations based on current discussions, and will hold further ministerial meetings in the near future.
The statement noted that U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent, U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Grier met with Japan's Minister for Economic Revitalization Akazawa Ryohei on Thursday local time. Both sides held candid and constructive discussions on fair and reciprocal trade.
During the meeting, Bessent emphasized to Akazawa Ryohei the importance of tariffs and non-tariff measures, economic security as part of national security, and other issues of concern.
