He is preparing to gradually step back from his formal role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), although there had previously been no reports indicating he had already stopped showing up in person. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said, "I now communicate with him by phone rather than meeting in person, but the end result is the same."
