TechFlow, April 30 — According to CoinDesk, U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman for the Western District of Texas ruled that the U.S. Department of the Treasury's sanctions against the cryptocurrency mixing protocol Tornado Cash were unlawful and issued a permanent injunction prohibiting the agency from enforcing such sanctions.
In the ruling, the judge noted that OFAC has not indicated it will refrain from sanctioning Tornado Cash again and may attempt to "reimpose identical sanctions" in the future. Notably, the U.S. Department of Justice continues to pursue criminal charges against two developers of Tornado Cash, Roman Storm and Roman Semenov.
