TechFlow, April 25 — Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter, that a Chinese startup behind Manus AI raised $75 million in a funding round led by U.S. venture capital firm Benchmark. The round reportedly included participation from existing investors and increased the startup's valuation fivefold to nearly $500 million. The company, known as "Butterfly Effect," plans to use the funds to expand into markets including the United States, Japan, and the Middle East, according to the report. In March, Manus launched a general-purpose AI agent capable of handling tasks such as resume screening, itinerary planning, and stock analysis, drawing widespread attention. The company claims its agent outperforms OpenAI’s recently released Deep Research tool across multiple metrics. Earlier funding exceeding $10 million came from investors including Tencent, ZhenFund, and HSG, according to Chinese media cited by Bloomberg.
