TechFlow news, April 21 — Tomasz K. Stańczak, incoming Co-Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, announced that the foundation is adjusting its strategic focus to direct more research efforts toward near-term goals. This shift aims to free up Vitalik Buterin’s time for deeper research rather than day-to-day coordination. The foundation will prioritize Layer 1 scalability, support for Layer 2 scaling, and improvements to user experience, with these enhancements to be implemented through the Pectra, Fusaka, and Glamsterdam protocol upgrades. Meanwhile, the foundation is also exploring ways to accelerate current projects—originally expected to take 3–5 years—to deliver partial functionality within 1–2 years through next-generation execution and consensus layer initiatives.
