TechFlow, April 17 — According to Decrypt citing The New York Times, the Trump administration is considering imposing restrictions on Chinese AI company DeepSeek, potentially cutting off its access to U.S. technology and banning Americans from using its services. This move follows DeepSeek's release of its DeepSeek-V3 model in January, which achieved performance comparable to that of U.S. rivals at a cost of approximately $6 million, raising national security concerns. The U.S. House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party has accused DeepSeek of secretly leaking American user data and possibly using around 60,000 Nvidia chips—including 20,000 subject to export controls—to train its model.
