TechFlow news, April 16 — According to CoinDesk, Coinbase Institutional's latest report indicates that the cryptocurrency market has entered a bear market phase. Bitcoin has fallen below and stabilized beneath the 200-day simple moving average since March 9, signaling that long-term momentum has turned bearish. The report notes that the hallmark of a crypto "winter" is sustained losses and market stagnation, with altcoins expected to face even harsher impacts as venture capital funding has declined by 50%-60% compared to 2021–22 levels. David Duong, Head of Research at Coinbase, forecasts that the market may bottom out in the mid-to-late second quarter of 2025, setting the stage for a recovery in the third quarter. Investors are currently advised to maintain a defensive stance toward risk assets.
