TechFlow news, April 12 — According to Catenaa, the Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the trial of Binance's tax evasion case to April 30.
Binance lawyer Chukwuka Ikwuazom challenged the validity of serving legal documents via email, arguing that Nigerian authorities should obtain formal approval before serving documents abroad. The Nigerian government accuses Binance of operating illegally without registration, causing financial instability and tax losses, and is demanding a fine of $81 billion, including $2 billion in back taxes and $79 billion in compensation.
Earlier, two Binance executives, Nadeem Anjarwalla and Tigran Gambaryan, were detained in Nigeria. Anjarwalla has since escaped and remains at large, while Gambaryan was released in October last year due to health reasons.
