TechFlow, April 12 — According to Cointelegraph, Scotland's Lomond School announced it will begin accepting Bitcoin for tuition payments starting in the fall semester of 2025, becoming the first school in the UK to accept Bitcoin.
The school stated in its announcement that accepting Bitcoin aligns with its integration of the Austrian School of Economics' "sound money principles" into its curriculum, aiming to "prepare students for an uncertain future." The school emphasized that Bitcoin serves as a perfect real-world case study in economics, computer science, ethics, and innovation, accessible to anyone willing to learn.
The announcement noted that the school currently accepts only Bitcoin and not other cryptocurrencies, and all received Bitcoin will be immediately converted into fiat currency. In the future, the school may establish a Bitcoin reserve after consulting with the Lomond community.
